This tour covers the history of the city from its origins in the 9th century as an arabic fortress
to the times of the Enlightment and the rule of the so called 'best mayor of Madrid': King Charles III.
I'll take you to the most charming 'plazas' in central Madrid and on the way we will see city some city walls
from the times of the city foundation, bell towers from the Middle Ages, the characteristic Hapsburg architecture
of three materials: brick, granit stone and slate and the magnificent buildings comissioned by the new
ruling family: The Bourbons.Area covered: Plaza de Oriente to Puerta del Sol (visiting Plaza Mayor and Mercado
San Miguel Plaza de la Villa, Plaza de la Paja, Arabic city walls, St. Peter church and La Almudena Cathedral
